Bucket Updates

We have been back for 32 hours now and everything is rolling along much better than expected. Sam is doing really well and, most importantly, Christina is doing great.

Rotisserie Baby

Well, we have a yellow Bucket (see clarification in previous post). Sam still has a little jaundice. Apparently this is a preemie thing. The bilirubin peaks a little late in the tiny ones. So what we are doing, besides stuffing his pee sized belly is to do what the Doc called Rotisserie Baby. We bake him in a closed window for a few minutes on each side. Some how the sun breaks down the yellow stuff and he dumps out in his tar poopies a little quicker.

Speaking of Poopies

We cheered a poop today. Actually the color of the poop. At our first visit with the doc, in regards to the above issue, the three of us raised our arms in a triumph and exclaimed “Woo, Hoo”. This at the news of yellow poop. Apparently, this is a milestone. One might think that with my affinity for the subject, this would be joy. But damn, if this doesn’t get serious. Besides the smell takes all the fun out of it. I did ask Christina if she wanted to save it for the scrapbook. She said no.

Sleep

Sam sleeps. And sleeps. And sleeps. Sounds like joy. But makes trying to keep the little guy awake to finish eating a two-man chore. While making for a little work now this will be a great asset later. Don’t think I am complaining. Just seems that our luck that the bum will decide to wake just when we begin to take advantage of the trait.

Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny

Being four weeks early makes for a small baby. Not much fits. We were a little cavalier. Most advice given was to ditch the small stuff. We had a lot working for this. Christina’s family had bigguns. Diabetics have bigguns. We expected a biggun. Well no. We have a peanut. Cute. But damn he is small. We could tie the arms in knots with room to spare. Day 3 and we have already utter the great parenting phrase, “you’re going to grow into it”.

I haven’t dropped him despite my fears otherwise and I am better at diaper changes than Christina expected. So far FunkeeMunkeeLAnd rest in fair peaceful calm and has handled its expansion with grace.

Well, I will tell you of the shotgun poopies and the four-diaper rapid-fire change at a later date.

He is the cutest little person. He has to grow up quickly so we’ll
have a designated driver on Saturday nights! Greg and I are so happy
    for you both!
