I had grown luke warm about McCain. Pandering to the religious nuts that have wrecked the GOP and seemingly ineffectual war rhetoric have gotten me down on the Maverick.
But this was refreshing. Rather than taking grand statements (for most of it), his responses were thoughtful and measured. On tough ones, like net neutrality, he spoke about his own back and forth between both sides. A honest confusion and deference to more conversation. Common sense, not popular in politics of late.
I am tired of Obama (boring, glam, no substance) and Guiliani is a vote-slut that is going to say what it takes to get him there but doesn't realize that he needs friends on both sides to get the job done (see 8 years of GW) and the rest of the Dem and Rep are just banging swords on shields for a loudest ruckus award (2nd place in Iowa and NH).
I would love to see McCain and Clinton duke it out. Love or hate her, those are the two biggest brains out of the bunch and best possibilty for real solutions to big issues now.
