“Your god is in the volcano.”

Date January 28, 2008

I don’t know how I completely feel about harassing a “religion” but it is the very reason I felt I needed to put religion in quotes that keeps me on the fence. My beef is the fervent approach to legislating some of their beliefs, particularly in education and its war on psychiatry. It also is the unnerving stories that continually come out from those that claim to have “run away”. At least LDS has dumped the majority of craziness that came up with them and now call them splinter groups or extremist. Add in the fact this bugaboo cult was written by the same man who penned crap sci-fi and you have the perfect storm of crazy.

These guys have their office around the corner from my house and that is the scene of this stunt. I did enjoy it a bit I have to admit. But is this part of the larger shenanigans of Anonymous ? (wired on his war with a manifesto and wikinews with more in depth stuff)

“They” claim another protest on Feb 2 at 3 in the pm. I will be there with camera in hand for the fun. I might honk too.

I ended up not going. After some thought I realized that regardless of how screwy I think Cruise and his scientologist freaks are that protest them for believing their views is not the same as protesting what their actions. “Honk if you hate Scientology” is crude and crosses the line. Insert any ethnic group, sexual identity or any other mainstream religion you have easily recognized bigotry. It is a freedom of religion thing.

Religion is subjective, you can choose not to believe. I also feel that if it is the right of one to hold those beliefs it also is my right to not have it inflected on me by way of laws dictated by those beliefs.

I will leave them alone in the hope they will leave me alone.
