Tour de Cure - Orlando

Date February 27, 2008

Christina took her bike out and rode a bit for raising a money for the American Diabetes Association. Part of our support group friends, Earle namely, headed out from Christmas for a quick ride (22 miles) Sunday morning. She did great considering she decided to ride one week before and having never ridden a long distance before. Luckily, Kathleen and Greg decided to drag themselves out way too early in the morning and gave Sam and I some company. Thanks for the ride too.

It was a misty, miserable looking morning but there was a big turnout, almost 600 riders. Christina missed getting her red jersey, the one for riders with diabetes, by a day (a donation came in too late). Earle got some face time on Fox 35. I hope to rip that and Youtube in soon. It was crazy the numbers of those heading out for the longer rides: 50, 70 and 101 miles. The big turnout netted almost $200,000 in donations for the ADA.

Picture 2Overall, Christina had a great time and the team met their goal and them some. Even though it is over it still isn’t too late to give a little to a great cause.

Congrats to Team Earle Orlando Pumpers.

Enjoy the photos from the day.
