Boys like danger, mommies do not

The look on Christina’s face is priceless. Monkey boy knows no fear. He has even taken to scaling the jungle gym at the playground down the street from the house. He’ll find some fear and caution after that first good but minor tumble. At least that is how I remember it from my childhood.
But not if Christina has anything to do with it. She is busily engineering a mobile rope system that will break his fall at all times of the day and a padded rubber suit for those spaces where the contraption is too big. She has also developed the habit of scream “NO” at loudest possible decibels for any attempt to launch him self onto something 6 inches or taller.

I attempted to help by outfitting Sam with his bike helmet for a recent grocery trip. I was accused of being sarcastic and unhelpful. I was then ordered to get the 300 ft elastic rope from the back of the car and to attach it to the shopping cart, properly this time. I canceled his cool kids hat when I got home.
